Pompei

The scenographic project draws inspiration from the Pompeian domus, structured around the atrium and the peristyle, which shape the visitor journey and form its narrative backbone. The atrium hosts an immersive installation dedicated to the eruption of Mount Vesuvius: a deliberately compressed space, crossed by curtains evoking the impluvium, where visitors first perceive sounds and tension before entering the heart of an enveloping projection. The peristyle, wide and open, is dedicated to “Pompeii Today” and offers great freedom for multimedia composition, with a sequenced reading supported by discreet architectural pilasters. The remaining rooms unfold around these two poles, ensuring smooth circulation and a clear narrative progression. Overall, the scenography favors a sober, scientifically grounded approach, attentive to ancient colors and techniques, serving both the artworks, the scholarly narrative, and a sensitive visitor experience.
