Malakoff
This 120 sqm house dating from the late 19th century, typical of Paris’s inner suburbs, required a major renovation addressing both structural and thermal performance. The intervention was guided by the preservation and enhancement of the existing spaces as well as the original architectural elements. The guiding principle of the proposed architecture unfolds through the encounters between historical characteristics and contemporary interventions, each translated into a specific architectural detail. These details are not intended to create contrast, but rather to give form to a dialogue. The sought-after sensation is that of a spatiality that feels as though it has always existed—not because the new mimics or glorifies the old, but because their exchange takes place on equal terms, within a language that questions the timeless.
